Internet/E-Mail Homework
Send the e-mail message described below (with the attachment) to the Teaching Assistant.
Follow the instructions below to ensure proper credit for this assignment.
- Read the class Frequently Asked Questions FAQ's.
- Using Microsoft Word, write a very brief note to your TA answering the following questions:
- What are the tutorials/lab modules, where are they found, and what are they for?
- What are the data files, in what 2 places are they found, and what are they for?
- Where are the homework assignments found?
To do a good job of writing the note review your syllabus. The purpose of this assignment is to make sure everyone has a functioning e-mail account and can send a readable attachment. Reviewing the FAQ's now will avoid confusion later in the semester since there are so many materials for this course.
Save this Word document and name it with your full name followed by the .doc extension (example: John Smith.doc).
- Using Outlook, Eudora (or whatever e-mail platform you have) send an e-mail message to the TA. Structure your message as follows:
- Assign the highest priority to your e-mail (ie., use the exclamation point in Outlook or use the 2 upward red arrows in Eudora or the appropriate indicator in your e-mail software to tag the message as described in class). If you don't have a priority indicator in your e-mail software that is okay.
- In the subject line, enter "MIS 310 Homework".
- In the message area type "Answers to Frequently Asked Questions in MIS 310".
- Below the message, be sure to enter your Name and Social Security Number or Student ID Number; or use a Signature as described in class. When you use a Signature, as the sender, you may not be able to see your Signature at the bottom of your message if you are using Eudora (Outlook will display it for you). However, in either case, it will appear in the message received by the recipient. If you don't have the signature feature then just type the information at the bottom of your message.
- Send the Word document created in Step 2 above as an attachment to this e-mail message.
- Be sure to save your message and word document for reference in the event of server/delivery problems and/or administrative errors. If you are using something other than Outlook or Eudora as your e-mail software, it is possible that you will not have all of the features suggested above (priority, signature, etc.) available to you. Just use as many of these features as you are able to with the software you have.
- This assignment is due via e-mail at the time indicated on the Homework Schedule.
